Commercial Roofing Technical Representative

Location: Baton Rouge, LA
Salary: $75k annually  

Our client was established in 1978 and is a leader in the commercial roofing industry. They are known for their commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction, and offer services in new construction, re-roofs, and preventative maintenance across multiple states.

The Job

The Commercial Roofing Technical Representative will serve as the primary technical liaison between the company, customers, and industry partners. This role involves providing technical support, conducting site inspections, ensuring quality assurance, and assisting with the sales and service of roofing systems and repairs. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of commercial roofing systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Support:

• Provide technical assistance to customers, contractors, and internal sales teams regarding roofing systems, products, and applications.
• Address technical inquiries and troubleshoot issues related to roofing installations and performance.

2. Site Inspections:

• Conduct on-site inspections to assess roofing conditions, installation practices, and compliance with specifications.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and recommend corrective actions as needed.

3. Quality Assurance:

• Ensure that roofing installations meet company standards, warranty requirements, and industry best practices.
• Conduct quality audits and follow up on corrective measures to maintain high standards of workmanship.

4. Training and Education:

• Develop and deliver training programs for contractors, customers, and internal staff on roofing products, installation techniques, and safety protocols.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to provide up-to-date information and training.

5. Project Management:

• Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of roofing service projects, ensuring that timelines and budgets are met.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure successful project outcomes.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of all technical support activities, site inspections, and training sessions.
• Provide regular reports to management on technical issues, project status, and quality assurance findings.

7. All Hands On Deck:

• Assist with performing emergency repairs during times of excessive service/leak requests.
• Provide “on call” availability to accommodate our client’s “within 4 hours” emergency response requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the commercial roofing industry.
• Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems, materials, and installation techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using technical tools and software for inspections and reporting.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Roofing industry certifications (e.g., RRO, RRC) are a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Experience with roofing warranty claims and resolution processes.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry.
