Role Overview:

Our client, an employee-owned general contractor specializing in heavy civil/structural construction, is looking for a Finance Director to join their Senior Leadership Team to oversee Finance, IT, Office Administration and system assurance for complex construction and infrastructure projects.  

Reporting to the President, this exciting opportunity will allow you to be integral in growing a Joint-Venture business and ensuring all systems, processes, governance requirements are established appropriately and then subsequently building your teams and participating in growing the business. 

Responsibilities: 

• Provide strategic leadership and planning with the Senior Management Team 

• Oversee IT infrastructure, external financial reporting, and technical accounting under ASPE 

• Ensure effective compliance, control, governance, and risk management 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for financial leadership and coaching 

• Manage change and innovation, and develop Corporate Risk Register and ISO Governance Standards 

• Establish and operate the Internal Audit function 

• Review proposals/contracts to maintain organizational interests 

• Act as Compliance Officer for Anti-Bribery, Anti-Corruption, and Modern Slavery Standards 

• Perform special projects as requested by the President or Board of Directors 
   

Qualifications: 

• 15+ years’ progressive experience in Finance, IT, and support teams
• CPA (Ontario) designation 
• ​​​​​​​Construction Industry experience 
• Expert knowledge of ASPE 
• Strong experience in financial controls, process design, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis 
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills 
• Experience with Trimble Vista finance software is preferred
