Safety Manager - Make an Impact on Safety in Laurel, MD  

Salary: $75,000- $90,000 
Location: Laurel, MD 
 
Do you possess a strong passion for safety, along with expertise in Fall Protection, and are ready to take on the challenge of overseeing the safety of two locations? 
 
Our client, a leading full-service provider of roofing and exterior services, is actively seeking a Safety Manager to join their Laurel, MD  location. The chosen candidate with be responsible for overseeing the Safety of both their Laurel, MD and their Virginia Beach, VA location. Some travel to Virginia Beach will be required but the majority of the time will be working out of the Laurel office.  
This position offers an exhilarating opportunity for a safety-conscious individual to significantly impact the safety culture of a rapidly growing organization, while spearheading the safety initiatives of two offices. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the implementation of comprehensive safety programs, including practices related to job site safety, fall protection, hazard communication, and more. Facilitate group safety training sessions. 
  • Conduct thorough inspections of projects to ensure safety compliance. Identify safety gaps, recommend corrective or preventive actions, and follow up to confirm the successful implementation of safety measures. 
  • Collaborate in the development of Site Specific Safety Plans and Activity Hazard Analyses to establish and uphold a safe work environment. 
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety standards governed by OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations. Monitor and enforce compliance with safety manual requirements and any owner-specific mandates. 
  • Assist in creating and delivering safety training programs to educate employees on safe work practices, company policies, and procedures. 
  • Actively identify safety issues that impact employees and pose potential liabilities to the company. Contribute to policy development and personnel training. 
  • Maintain safety compliance while working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Subcontractors, and Suppliers. 
  • Conduct safety orientations for all employees and oversee the formation of a local branch safety committee. 
  • Provide support in the event of OSHA agency-level audits. 
  • Exhibit the ability to recognize and address hazardous situations, making independent judgments concerning the general safety of workers. 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, or a related field is preferred. (5+ years of field experience may be considered as an alternate qualification) 
  • 3 years of experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, with a track record of achieving measurable results. 
  • Extensive Knowledge of Fall Protection and working at heights is required  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations and procedures. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with excellent oral and written communication abilities. 
  • Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. 
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is advantageous but not mandatory. 
  • Proficiency in Procore is preferred. 
  • Proficiency in conducting group safety training sessions is essential. 
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a clean motor vehicle record. 
  • Ability to climb a ladder and lift 15 pounds at a time is required. 

Preferred Certifications: (Must be willing to obtain) 

  • OSHA 30-hour in Construction 1926 with a working knowledge of its content. 
  • OSHA 500 certification. 
  • EM 385 certification. 
  • Fall Protection Trainer Certified  
  • Recognized BCSP certification is preferred (not mandatory)
