Sales Representative - Building Automation

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is partnered with one of the leading HVAC service providers in the Phoenix area. Our client has provided technical HVAC services for their commercial industry markets for over 50 years. They are in search of a new Building Automation Sales Representative for their Denver location.

Compensation - $150,000-$200,000

Job Overview:

The BAS Sales Representative is responsible for driving new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and delivering solutions for building automation, HVAC, and energy services. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in sales, operations, and building systems to effectively manage client accounts, propose energy-efficient solutions, and meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

To perform this role successfully, the candidate must be able to execute the following core duties, with other tasks assigned as needed:

  • Sales and Business Development: Demonstrate proficiency in sales, financial operations, and business knowledge within the fields of maintenance, building automation, and client services. Drive new business development, becoming self-sufficient and productive.

  • Prospecting and Lead Qualification: Qualify prospects, schedule and conduct appointments, follow up on leads and referrals, and handle customer inquiries and objections in a professional manner.

  • Building Systems Expertise: Gain a strong understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, building system design, building automation systems, and typical operational sequences.

  • Energy Efficiency Knowledge: Understand energy costs and savings strategies, particularly for HVAC and lighting systems in commercial buildings. Be able to explain the benefits and cost-effectiveness of energy-saving measures to clients in simple terms.

  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, such as executives, facility managers, property managers, building engineers, and purchasing departments. Target opportunities based on comprehensive knowledge of client needs and decision-making processes.

  • Customer Decision Process: Analyze the client’s organizational needs and decision-making process, addressing concerns and guiding them through the decision-making timeline.

  • Account Management: Manage Client Services agreements, lead consultation and review meetings, and provide pricing for repairs or upgrades. Work closely with both MSRs and PSRs as an internal expert and advocate for Client Services.

  • Proposal Development: Develop proposals, determine pricing strategies, and prepare contracts using standard templates. Review contract terms and ensure alignment with company pricing and credit policies.

  • Customer Satisfaction: Take ownership of customer satisfaction within assigned accounts, working closely with fulfillment teams to ensure service excellence and client retention.

  • Reporting and Forecasting: Provide regular business activity reports and annual sales forecasts to track progress and support the sales plan.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in Building Automation, Energy Services, or Building Commissioning.

  • HVAC and Systems Knowledge: Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and controls, along with experience in commercial building construction, operations, or maintenance.

  • Driver’s License: Must hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record as required by company insurance policies.

  • Continuous Learning: The role requires adaptability and a willingness to learn about the evolving energy services field, staying current with industry changes.

  • Professionalism: Must be polished, tactful, and able to handle high-pressure situations. Respectful communication and accountability are essential.

  • Time Management: Strong time management and organizational skills to increase productivity and manage daily activities effectively.
