Business Development Manager – Commercial Construction

Location: Calgary, AB

  • Join a well-established commercial general contractor expanding across Western Canada
  • Represent a company known for its high-quality, design-build, and commercial construction projects with a proven track record of delivering on time and on budget

Compensation:

  • Base salary of $100,000 in year one
  • 100% commission from year two onward with uncapped earning potential

Earning Potential & Bonuses:

  • $200,000+ expected earnings by year two
  • Average earnings of $350,000 per year over 10 years
  • High performers achieving $1M+ in annual bonuses by year three

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business opportunities with developers, property managers, corporate executives, and institutional investors looking for high-quality commercial construction services
  • Position the company as a go-to general contractor by demonstrating its expertise in design-build, industrial, and commercial projects
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, ensuring repeat business and continued project collaboration
  • Identify client needs and present tailored construction solutions that align with their budgets, timelines, and business goals
  • Conduct strategic outreach, networking, and market research to identify emerging opportunities
  • Deliver compelling presentations that showcase the company’s proven ability to complete complex projects on time and within budget
  • Negotiate contracts and close deals that create win-win partnerships for both the client and the company
  • Collaborate closely with estimators, project managers, and executive leadership to ensure project execution aligns with client expectations
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and new developments in the commercial construction industry

Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience in sales, business development, or a technical role such as project management or estimating within commercial construction
  • Proven ability to develop business with key decision-makers and build strong, long-term client relationships
  • Experience in commercial, industrial, or design-build construction preferred
  • Established professional network within the commercial construction industry
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, results-driven approach
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
