Established in the 1990s, our client is a Texas-based Commercial General Contracting firm. With operations in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado, they provide General Contracting, Retail Tenant Finish out, Commercial New Construction/Remodeling, and Restoration services for over 20 years.   

Job Description: 

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Estimator to lead our estimating team and contribute to our continued success. This role is essential in ensuring accurate cost projections, competitive bids, and efficient estimating operations. Based full-time in our office—you’ll oversee the estimating department while also handling your own estimates. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in commercial general contracting, strong leadership skills, and the ability to develop and mentor a team.

Key Responsibilities:   

• Lead and manage the estimating team, providing guidance and oversight on all estimates.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to develop accurate cost estimates.
• Perform material and labor takeoffs using estimating software.
• Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
• Prepare and submit detailed bids and proposals for commercial projects.
• Maintain and update historical cost data to improve accuracy in future estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers and leadership to ensure accurate budgeting.
• Monitor industry trends and cost fluctuations to maintain competitive estimates.
• Establish and refine estimating best practices and processes.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior estimators.
• Occasionally travel to potential project sites (fuel costs covered).

Qualifications: 

• Experience: 10+ years in commercial general contracting estimating, with leadership or managerial experience preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with takeoff programs.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team.
• Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills to ensure accurate estimates.
• Communication: Ability to clearly convey cost breakdowns and project details to internal teams and clients.
