Our client, an established and award winning General Contractor seeks an experienced Business Development Manager to d
evelop, implement, and monitor results of programs. Someone to develop new contacts and leads, improve brand visibility. The Business Development Manager will obtain new business, increase awareness and customer satisfaction, and derive repeat business. They will monitor and analyze market and economic data and provide management reports as inputs to corporate business and strategic planning.

Business Development Manager Duties & Responsibilities:

Business Development
  • Responsible to find and track leads in Calgary and surrounding area
  • Work with estimating on potential opportunities to provide budget, lump sum, or RFP costing
  • Work with marketing on RFPs to generate industry leading responses
  • Maintain an internal CRM for client relations and tough points
  • Work closely with the Manager, project development in Edmonton for cross selling opportunities
  • Manage the client relationship and execution through preconstruction, supported by an estimating and operations team
  • Keep apprised of market trends, costing, competitor analysis
  • Develop communication and relationship-building plan for identified target groups (industry groups (lab users, realtor) and key influencers like architects, designers, developers, realtors, etc.)
  • Develop network of personal relationships with key target groups, as well as conduct site meetings/presentations
  • Develop and submit proposals, RFQs and RFPs for work with minimum construction group input/disruption - Work with corporate team to prepare and submit proposals as required.
  • Attend trade shows and events to build client list (including follow up)
  • Develop and implement a communication plan for target groups and past customers using the database
  • Work closely with Estimating and VP of Construction to ensure resource allocation and customer commitments can be met

Marketing & Analysis
  • Manage customer database software (features, upgrades, report generation and distribution, capabilities)
  • Ensure all opportunities and leads are recorded and updated in database
  • Perform competitive analysis (annual and on an RFP basis, including RFP follow up if lost)
  • Monitor web site statistics and usage and suggest changes and e-marketing initiatives; execute, collect results, and develop analysis of customer satisfaction survey
  • Develop quarterly marketing and sales plans, strategic plans, and development plans by analyzing primary and secondary data, developing reports, monitoring, and building a network of information sources

Development Support
  • Information collection for due diligence reports on acquisitions
  • Market research on new developments
  • Realtor follow-up on existing properties
  • Assist with pro-forma and financial calculations
  • Assist in targeting potential tenants

Business Development Manager Qualifications: 
  • Post secondary education, being a university degree or diploma from a recognized education institution in Communications, Marketing or Business or related discipline
  • Use of IBM PC, including MSWord, Excel PowerPoint, web browser, database programs
  • Project management and coordination, including the ability to plan, direct and communicate effectively with co-workers and suppliers, and to see projects through to completion
  • Networking and interpersonal ability to establish and maintain effective relationships as necessitated by work assignments
  • Marketing, Sales, and Advertising Skills
  • Well Organized and strong time management skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills – web site, advertising, newsletters, reports, and brochure development
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous, rapidly changing environment with little day to day direction
  • Financial, analytical and research skills
