Our client is a well reputed and incredibly fast growing food manufacturer based in Mississauga, Ontario.  They are looking to bring strategic direction to the organization with a Senior Director of Supply Chain.  This critical role oversees the seamless integration of procurement, production, inventory management, and distribution. The Senior Director ensures that the supply chain operates efficiently, meeting the company’s quality standards and customer demands while optimizing costs and sustainability practices.   
The ideal candidate is an expert at fostering strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and seamlessly aligns the company’s objectives with its operational capabilities, ensuring that products are delivered on time and within budget. The position requires an innovative leader who supports the company’s growth and competitiveness in the market, balancing both operational excellence and strategic goal delivery.

The Role:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive supply chain strategies to optimize efficiency, cost, and quality across the organization.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, vendors, and logistics providers to ensure favorable terms and reliable supply of materials and services.
  • Lead the integration of supply chain processes with other business functions, such as sales, marketing, finance, and production, to align objectives and enhance overall operational performance.
  • Implement advanced analytics and supply chain management tools to forecast demand, manage inventory levels, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain sustainable and ethical sourcing practices, ensuring compliance with legal standards and corporate social responsibility commitments.
  • Coordinate risk management efforts across the supply chain, including the development of contingency plans to mitigate the impact of disruptions, shortages, or other unforeseen challenges.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the supply chain team, encouraging innovation, professional development, and collaboration to achieve strategic goals.
  • Represent the company in industry associations, conferences, and professional groups to stay informed of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in supply chain management
  • Can demonstrate strategic sourcing, global logistics management, supply chain risk management and contract negotiation expertise
  • Translates business strategies into operational tactics and concrete actions taking into account business priorities
  • Identify opportunities for Distribution and Supply Chain process improvements and support management that enable optimization of customer service, cost and cash
  • Managing Supply Chain Department Budgets
  • Responsible to build, coach and lead a strong professional Supply Chain team
  • History of managing competitive procurement processes.
  • Win / win builder of strategic long-standing partnerships with vendors.
  • History of sourcing new lines and ability to extend core offerings by facilitating movement into new markets and products.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field and additional formal training in Procurement & Supply Chain; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years operations/supply chain experience.
  • 5+ years of business experience at senior strategic level and proven ability to build and motivate a top performing team.
  • 10+ years experience in manufacturing and distribution environment;
  • Prior experience in a food or GMP manufacturing environment is required;
  • Global supply chain management, technology integration and implementation experience
  • Brings a deep understanding of logistics, procurement, and inventory management
  • Exceptional Communications and Interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive Data Analysis expertise would be an asset.
