Our client based in Vaughan is seeking a controller to join their expanding team to support business growth Internationally. This role is ideal for a candidate who is currently working in a firm at Manager level or higher and keen to make their first move in to industry.
This role offers various challenges including, process redesign, ERP roll-out, team development, managing remote plants and opening an new operation Internationally. Direct reporting to the FD you will be a key driver of value added initiatives and nominated agent of change.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsibility for the Operational Accounting, Cost Accounting and Tax & Compliance.
  • Day to day the role will oversee Treasury, Accounts Payable & Receivable, Payroll and people management of a small team.
  • Develop short- and long-term financial objectives while providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts to enhance financial performance.
  • Actively participate in the development and maintenance of accurate costing to support the sales team decision making.
  • Coordinate and set up activities of independent auditors, ensuring all audit issues are resolved, all compliance issues are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with GAAP and federal, provincial, state and other required supplementary schedules and information.
  • Participate in the selection on a new ERP system in tandem with the CFO and Director of Finance.
  • Support the Executive Management team in developing and implementing the organization's strategic plans.
  • Support new business development by assisting the CFO and Director of Finance identifying business process improvements, new business opportunities, and people planning.
  • Attend company meetings and contribute and influence on behalf of your function.
  • Ability to supervise a small but growing team and participate in hiring efforts.
Skills required for this position:
  • Data driven, the capacity to analyse and review numbers & trends to allow decision making.
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple software’s, database and accounting/reporting systems and of general office software, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 5 years + experience in a firm manager level role or higher.
  • People management experience required with the ability to motivate, train and retain staff.
  • Assurance experience from a Big 6 highly advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and influence your team/ business.
  • Manage people and relationships at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations.
  • A desire to review the current business and make longstanding, value add changes as your role evolves.
  • High level of urgency, results focused, deadline mindful individual. 
  • Fully designated CA
  • Degree educated.
