Employee Relations Manager 
Six Figure Salary + bonus + exceptional benefits 

As Employee Relations Manager for this large unionized organization you will be responsible for facilitating employee relations and solving human resource issues on behalf of the company. You will be responsible for handling employee situations with a focus on conflict resolution in a fast-paced environment. 

Reporting to the Director of HR, you will have one direct report but will work closely with the HR Generalists as the subject matter expert relating to all harassment issues, employee complaints and human rights issues. Operating in a role reliant on high degrees of privacy and confidentiality, you will strive to resolve employee issues in a positive, timely manner. You will take the lead in running investigations, producing summaries of the situation and providing the business with advice on appropriate action plans. 

In addition to leading investigations, you will also lead training and development aimed at educating both HR and the line managers on how to manage employee relations issues and the processes to take. As this is a unionized environment and issues are both from the unionized and non-unionized employees, you should be well versed in working through grievance processes within a collective agreement as well as with non-unionized employee issues. 

This a national role and may require regular travel up to 40%. 

This dynamic organisation has a very large employee population and therefore this is a varied and busy role. What we need is someone with working experience of managing employee relations for another large organisation which has had both union and non-union employees. They should have a solid understanding of human rights, be very familiar with labor relations and the Canadian labor code. The right person will be at ease speaking to senior level leaders, will have leadership skills themselves and will be passionate about their work. As negotiation is such a large part of this role, the individual must be able to demonstrate evidence of a successful track record in negotiation.

We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of the Canadian Human Rights Act as well as experience conducting and leading investigation processes.They should be familiar with union collective agreement requirements related to investigation process. Someone with experience as a labor lawyer or someone heavily involved in the legalities of labor law would be the ideal candidate.
