Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary Architecture, Design and Planning firm, with offices across the country, is currently looking for a superb individual to add to their senior leadership team in their Calgary office. This company has a well established reputation and has a project portfolio spanning both low and mid- rise residential, commercial, institutional, industrial and public projects.

This position will have a large number of responsibilities, including:
  • Establish quality control methods, ensure use by all and develop techniques for process improvement and project documentation for the office.
  • Strategically manage staff, inspire top performance and increase productivity and workflow
  • Review quality, accuracy, and completeness of projects with regard to building code compliance and architectural standards.
  • Provide design guidance, mentorship and leadership at all stages of projects and maintain architectural design and production standards and procedures.
  • Personally review and coordinate all work at critical times during each phase including specifications
  • Review appropriateness of fees for various project types and review of proposal template, terms and conditions including indemnification needs and work scope clarity.
  • Analyze building-zoning code for active & potential projects, review permit comments and provide CA support including shop drawing review.
  • Establish design standards and procedures for integrated system of design, consultant coordination, contract, specifications, and construction document delivery.
  • Work with senior leadership of the firm to develop business development strategy and effective performance metrics
  • Work to implement best practices within the office and within the company at large
  • Recommend appropriate staffing levels and coordinate activities in order to meet and exceed established schedules and budget margins 
To be considered for this position, you must possess:
  • A Master’s Degree in Architecture
  • 15 or more years’ experience working as an architect, ideally within North America
  • Licensed Architect, other provincial registration is acceptable
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience managing staff
  • LEED AP an asset but not essential
  • Excellent working knowledge of design documentation, building materials, construction techniques, building systems, proposals and project documentation
  • Passionate about trends in architectural design and their relevance to inform our work
  • Willingness and desire to participate in business development, marketing, & client presentations
  • Well connected in the industry - local candidates preferred although out of province candidates will also be considered
  • A passion to grow within the company as a highly contributing member of the firm
