Our client, a leader in the construction industry, is seeking a Territory Manager for its growing Montreal sales team. Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Territory Manager will work from his home office and attend sales office meetings. They will be responsible for managing all marketing and sales activities in his/her assigned territory.  This role will also receive Head Office support from the internal customer service team (i.e. job quotations, order entry, inventory confirmation, and liaison/sequencing with manufacturing and product shipping).
  • Follow territory sales plan to align with both regional and national sales strategies
  • Build relationships with distributors, consulting engineers, municipalities, contractors, developers, and customers
  • Gather market intelligence information and report to Senior Management
  • Identify new opportunities and markets for further development
  • Train customers and end users
  • Gain approval from municipalities and coordinate with specification engineers therein
  • Act as a customer liaison and keep inside sales team informed of pricing and market trends
  • Manage territory and expenses and track against budget levels
  • Visit each city in your territory every two to three weeks and meet with utilities, consulting engineers, contractors, distributors, and municipalities
  • Prioritize based on forecasted/budgeted sales, price negotiation, and upcoming project potential
  • Develop new prospects in conjunction with the Sales Manager
  • Complete weekly reporting including call reports, customer account reports, and expense reports
  • Must speak English and French fluently
  • Skilled in selling techniques (5+ years experience), knowledgeable in one or more of the waterworks, plumbing and/or electrical supply industries
  • Tact and empathy required in order to resolve customer concerns in a satisfactory fashion
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with customers and colleagues at all levels
  • Confident public speaker when delivering sales presentations (PowerPoint)
  • Computer literate with Outlook, MS Word and Excel. Also familiar with up-to-date sales reporting processes
  • Preference for a recognized business management degree with a specialization in Sales/Marketing
