Are you a design/build professional looking for a position of leadership in an entrepreneurial renovations company in downtown Toronto?
 
Job Summary:
Reporting to the President, you will join this talented, young minded, professional and ambitious team as Designer for residential projects.   This is a new role due to company growth and your expertise in residential renovations projects, design development, estimating and quantity takeoffs will add immediate value to this passionate team.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Site visits with clients to qualify and assess needs; discuss and develop potential designs
  • Advise clients and answer design questions and explain impact on the project budget
  • Quantity take offs, acquiring quotes and estimates from sub trades, proposal writing, contract preparation, hand offs, database management and project performance reviews
  • Contribute to the overall business development process: attend home shows, meet with prospects
  • Continual project resource for clients throughout the production process
  • Lead the estimation/budgeting process and track on-going expenses through to project completion
 
Job Requirements:
  • Must have a combination of architectural and project management background, with experience in the residential renovations sector
  • A sound understanding of building science and/or green building
  • Extensive experience with designing and planning kitchen, bathroom, basement and interior projects
  • The ability to hand sketch floor plans and create more detailed preliminary drawings using CAD software
  • Possess skills and knowledge of typical dimensioning/sizing requirements required to perform material take-offs
  • Strong Ontario Building Code knowledge as it pertains to small/medium residential renovations
  • Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers of custom cabinetry and other millwork
  • Proficient use of Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must be driven and entrepreneurial, a strong communicator, and have prior experience in a management role
 
The preferred candidate will also have a Building Code Identification Number (BCIN), knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, a background in interior design, and formal training and/or experience in green building (e.g. LEED).
