Purpose of the job  
The Project Manager acts within the boundaries of the contract to transition internal manufacturing to external vendors (or between external vendors) and to deliver the targeted margin for the business. To this effect, the Project Manager leads supply management projects in the successful completion of their assigned tasks within schedule, allocated budgets and scope to the required quality. The project manager will be responsible for successfully initiating, planning, executing, tracking and finalizing projects throughout the supply chain product life-cycle. The Project Manager will lead the project and cope with the unique challenge of continually focusing on a pro-active management that the functions keep their delegated budgets, meet their schedules and deliver on their obligation. The Project Manager shall lead the project with the view of the full project including areas outside own division and the overall impact on company performance. The Project Manager is responsible to apply the key Project Management Processes and the applicable tools for the implementation and is accountable for the strict and efficient application thereof.
The Project Manager must ensure to have sufficient financial and reporting governance to ensure all risks and opportunities are properly addressed and mitigated.

Key responsibilities
Functional duties
 
  • Coordinate strategic resourcing projects by planning budgets and scheduling projects until their final implementation.
  • Manage cross-functional activities with engineering, methods, planning, site procurement, finance and contract managing team.
  • Manage suppliers' technical requirements for transition, engineering modification and obsolescence projects affecting parts.
  • Assist supplier technical development, drive supplier actions to achieve conforming product.
  • Coordinate with engineering and methods during requests for quotes and manufacturing of experimental lots.
  • Coordinate with commodity buyer during requests for quotes and PO placements.
  • Coordinate cut-in activities with planning team to ensure transition from internal production to external supply is executed flawlessly.
  • Responsible for gathering and reporting KPIs data on all ongoing activities.
Leadership duties
 
  • It is the mandate of the Project Manager to define and secure the support of the business partners and extended outsourcing team. The Project Manager must influence other functions within the business to advance project activities.
  • Lead the commodity buyers during the request for quotes exercises, placement of purchase orders and tracking of vendors activities.
  • The Project Manager is responsible for adapting his/her leadership and motivational skills to the project, the rest of the team or individual's capabilities and knowledge, the time and tools available and the results desired. (S)he will develop “must do” strategies to increase team effectiveness and the belief that "none of us is as good as all of us.", in order to help the team go through the distinct stages of ‘forming, storming, norming and performing’.
Strategic responsibilities
 
  • The Project Manager will ensure that activities being executed belong to a business process. If not, the project manager is expected to map these activities and present/propose a standard process governing the activities.
  • The Project Manager must contribute in the development of an outsourcing business process.
  • Support supply chain commodity cost reduction, capacity and targeted margin.
Qualifications & Functional Knowledge

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Project management certification (not a must)
Relevant experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience post graduate
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience
  • Proven leadership performance (i.e. PMP, 360° feedback)
  • International working experience
  • Run several projects on Level B (see definition B-projects)
  • Project management experience with external suppliers
Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role
Cross-functional experience either in Bids, Sales, Contracts & Legal, Procurement, Engineering or Operations.
