Summary

Our client, located in Toronto, manufactures and distributes its products across North America. They are currently seeking a dynamic, organized self-starter with a positive attitude to join their team as the Manager of Human Resources.
Reporting to Human Resources Director, the successful candidate is accountable for the development and delivery of HR programs and services in the areas of recruitment and retention, employee relations, training and development, employee benefits and legislative compliance. The HR Manager will build positive relationships throughout the organization and develop creative and innovative initiatives that are aligned with the company’s strategic direction.
 
Responsibilities
  • Manages the Human Resources Department, providing leadership and clear direction.
  • Responsible for full-cycle recruitment at all locations by developing practices and procedures that attract and retain the best candidates
  • Provides employee relations advice and coaches management in complex performance and disciplinary issues.
  • Researches and develops innovative HR related policies and procedures.
  • Manages the organization’s occupational health and safety programs, including the effective functioning of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety committees.
  • Accountable for WSIB compliance, including developing strategies to reduce workplace injuries and maximize cost savings.
  • Accountable for AODA compliance, including report preparation and submission.
  • Manages all aspects of the company’s benefit programs, identifying and implementing cost saving measures.
  • Provides expertise related to human resources legislation, keeping up-to-date with any new or changing legislation.
  • Contributes to the organization’s professional development program by identifying organizational needs and determining program offerings.
 
Requirements
  • Degree in Human Resources Management or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience in human resources, including the management of direct reports, preferably in a manufacturing company
  • Full-cycle recruiting experience required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills
  • Sound knowledge of Human Resources best practices and relevant legislation
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple, competing priorities
  • Strong leadership skills focused on results and collaboration
  • Hands-on experience with an HRIS system and finance/payroll experience are assets
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • CHRP/CHRL designation is preferred
  • Access to a reliable vehicle is required for travel between company locations
