Our client is a key player on major construction builds with a dominant name in the industry for construction supplies. They are in seek of top talent to introduce new policies and efficiencies in efforts to improve the over all operation of the Manufacturing Plant. The chosen candidate will challenge existing efforts and work alongside the President to effectively communicate a strong and strategic plan to achieve the company growth targets. 

The chosen candidate will have 5 + years experience (manufacturing would be a huge asset) in a similar role and a proven track record with examples of success as a leader.  The candidate must have Six Sigma experience as this is considered a necessary attribute to achieve the goals of the business. This is a leadership role so the candidate must have experience managing at least 50 employees. 

Plant Manager Summary
The Plant Manager will have hands on involvement in all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. The Plant Manager will develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity. A main focus will be on driving plant-wide continuous improvement projects through lean initiatives. Strong emphasis on optimizing customer service standards through analyses of delivery performance, reducing cycle times, maximizing shipping capacity and quality control.

  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
  • Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
  • Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
  • Commit to plant safety procedures
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
  • Address employees’ issues or grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements

  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
  • Support the manufacturing Supervisors on meeting production & material requirements;
  • Supports the technical team;
  • Ensure effective scheduling of customer orders and time releases to production;
  • Ensure scheduling and forecasting is completed to meet customer and revenue commitments;
  • Manage critical supplier relationships. Ensure product supply is timed to satisfy customer requirements by managing the procurement of materials to ensure best cost, optimal delivery targets and that quality performance meet expectations;
  • Maximize manufacturing efficiencies consistent with approved quality specifications by developing programs for continuous improvement utilizing the root cause analysis process.
  • Develop and implement the annual manufacturing plan, including budgets, capital expenditures and human resource requirements.
  • Evaluate direct reports' responsibilities and set goals to obtain optimum safety, efficiency and economy of operations while maximizing profits.
  • Support quality control programs that are designed to ensure product safety and quality that are consistent with established operating practices.
  • Proven track record as a plant manager
  • A degree in Engineering, or related fields
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience using Lean manufacturing tools and methodologies
  • Experience in roll forming, metal shaping/stamping is preferred
  • Experience with polyurethane and safety procedures connected with it is also preferred
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of current safety standards and MOL regulations
  • High degree of discipline, organization, and initiative
  • In depth knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Advanced computer, reporting, and analysis skills
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
