What You'll Do:
As the Senior Electrical Engineer within the Renewals Department, you’ll be a key contributor to renovation and tenant improvement projects across a range of commercial, institutional, and residential buildings. You’ll lead the electrical design process on retrofit and upgrade work, while also collaborating with the new buildings team on select projects. This role requires a flexible, hands-on engineer who thrives in existing building environments and brings a strong understanding of building systems, electrical code, and construction constraints.

  • Lead and execute electrical design work for building renewal and renovation projects, including tenant improvements and system upgrades
  • Evaluate and document existing electrical infrastructure through site reviews and condition assessments
  • Develop practical, code-compliant solutions for integrating new systems within existing buildings
  • Prepare and coordinate design drawings, specifications, and reports across all project stages
  • Collaborate closely with in-house architects, engineers, and construction professionals
  • Support the Renewals team with contract administration, site instructions, and construction-phase coordination
  • Participate in feasibility studies, load calculations, and life safety system upgrades
  • Contribute technical expertise to support the new buildings Electrical team on select projects
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in internal QA/QC and technical reviews
  • Engage with clients and project stakeholders, providing clear communication and responsive service

Who You Are:
You’re a practical, solutions-driven engineer who enjoys the complexity and challenge of working within existing building systems. You’re adaptable, collaborative, and bring a deep understanding of how to balance design intent with site realities. You take initiative, enjoy mentorship, and value high-quality, coordinated work.

  • You enjoy reverse-engineering legacy systems and developing efficient, reliable upgrades
  • You’re comfortable working on fast-paced tenant improvements as well as more involved renewal projects
  • You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You’re a natural problem solver, and enjoy figuring out how to make things work in real-world conditions
  • You take ownership of your work and bring a strong sense of accountability and pride to each project
  • You’re a team player who enjoys collaborating across disciplines and supporting team development

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in building electrical systems
  • Registered as a P.Eng. in British Columbia
  • Experience with the assessment, design, and upgrade of electrical systems in existing buildings
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, and renovation-related design constraints
  • Familiarity with lighting, power distribution, life safety systems, and communications
  • Skilled in Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software
  • Strong communication, coordination, and client engagement skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and manage deadlines in a fast-moving environment
