Lumber/Millwork Sales Representative
Location: White Marsh, MD
Type: Full-time
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 plus commission
We are seeking a Sales Representative to join our team. The ideal candidate has experience in Lumber and/or Architectural Millwork, with a proven track record in sales and business development. While knowledge of hardwood species and the lumber industry is preferred, it is not mandatory. Candidates with experience in the millwork space who are eager to learn and coachable are encouraged to apply. This candidate should also have great attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and a proactive approach to taking initiative.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Generate new business opportunities by prospecting, cold calling, and networking
Maintain and expand relationships with existing clients, ensuring repeat business. Identify
Develop relationships with architects, contractors, builders, and designers
Provide expert guidance on millwork, hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, veneers, and other specialty wood products
Experience with high end business purchases
Work closely with the Credit Manager to establish credit terms for new and existing customers
Coordinate with Shipping Department and Lumber Mill to approve shipments based on credit terms with customers
Work with the Credit Department in calling customers to discuss credit balances and to arrange payments and credit terms
Prior experience in distribution, manufacturing, channel sales, building materials, decking and railing, construction, contracting, or outdoor living products very helpful but not required
Stay up to date with industry trends, wood species applications, and emerging design styles
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in industry related field or related sales experience
2+ years of sales experience, preferably in the lumber industry, with a proven track record of achieving $5M+ in annual sales
Knowledge of Epicor LumberTrack software
Excellent math skills to determine measurements, board footage, lineal footage, and piece counts for accurate billing and data entry into software systems
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Excel
Computer skills with the ability to learn different software programs
Ability to travel 25% of the time
Open to the possibility of relocating in the future
