Competitive Compensation $120,000-$150,000 based on experience

Our well established building materials manufacturing client is seeking a motivational Plant Manager to provide exemplary leadership across key departments. The Plant Manager will be responsible for the entire operations in the manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will have proven leadership and decision-making skills. The ideal candidate will be innovative and entrepreneurial, with a strong understanding of people management and achieving operational results.

The Role:
  • Oversee daily production activities, ensuring the facility meets operational goals, including production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Lead team members to develop a productive and collaborative work environment. Coach direct reports through process improvements to meet production goals.
  • Ensure all products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements. Monitor production processes, resolve quality issues, and drive continuous improvements.
  • Enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for the team.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and control plant operating costs, including labor, materials, and overhead. Identify opportunities for cost reductions and process improvements using activity-based costing.
  • Ensure all machinery and equipment are regularly maintained and serviced to minimize downtime and enhance productivity. Implement a predictive / preventative maintenance program to enhance equipment up-time.
  • Make recommendations for capital investment, where warranted, to meet corporate goals.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor, to optimize plant efficiency, product quality and throughput.
  • Provide regular reports on production metrics, key performance indicators, costing, and plant performance to senior management.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • 10 years experience in complex custom production environments, ideally with a building materials background with experience in the woodworking and/or millwork industry
  • 5 years proven experience in a leadership role with seasoned motivational, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to build and motivate a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field would be preferred
  • Experience in implementing LEAN principles and processes, with a thorough knowledge of production planning and value stream mapping
  • Knowledge of WSIB and OHSA regulations would be an asset
  • Experience in driving change management initiatives and team building
