SUMMARY
The Laboratory Technician will conduct accurate diagnostic specimen testing and reporting. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality and efficiency to uphold high standards. The ideal candidate will possess robust laboratory skills and extensive experience across a broad spectrum of diagnostic and interpretive specimen analyses. Responsibilities include executing and troubleshooting a variety of diagnostic assays and other analytical tests. The role also involves processing and accurate sample labeling, maintaining detailed documentation, identifying discrepancies and non-conformities, contributing to the development and implementation of corrective action plans, escalating issues as necessary, and promoting ongoing process enhancements.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct and troubleshoot diagnostic assays following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality guidelines.
- Support new assay development using electrochemiluminescence, multi-array, ELISA, xMAP bead-based technology, and other immunoassay systems.
- Manage clinical samples, prepare reagents, maintain laboratory inventories, and perform equipment maintenance.
- Provide technical support for product production troubleshooting.
- Assist in experimental execution for product development and analysis.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies.
- Identify and address non-conformities, contributing to corrective action plans and continuous improvement.
- Analyze data, write reports, and support manuscript preparation using statistical tools and graphic design software.
- Manage equipment calibration, service contracts, and records.
- Cross-train in shipping and logistics as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or B.Sc. in medical laboratory sciences or biological sciences.
- 5+ years of experience in a medical, industry, or scientific lab setting.
- Proficiency in high-throughput clinical assays, including electrochemiluminescence, ELISA, and xMAP technologies. Familiarity with Luminex and MSD platforms required.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to laboratory protocols.
- Analytical, troubleshooting, and technical writing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving ability with sound judgment for escalation.
- Strong initiative, time management, and organizational skills.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
- Adaptability to dynamic environments focused on growth and change.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- GLP/GMP experience is an asset.
- WHMIS certification required.
