Our client, a global engineering and construction services firm, is seeking a dedicated, experienced Project Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist to join their team. Focused on tackling some of the world’s most complex challenges, our clients work spans various industries including infrastructure, environmental sustainability, scientific research, and advanced manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
This Project HSE Specialist will ensure the safe and successful completion of their projects, protecting their teams, subcontractors, and the communities they serve.
Support the execution of company HSE policies and ensure compliance with relevant safety and health regulations for the project.
Conduct risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and recommend effective mitigation measures to keep the project on track and safe for all involved.
Oversee safety planning efforts including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Daily Pre-Task Planning, and safety documentation, ensuring that all plans are executed thoroughly and recorded accurately.
Assist in the pre-qualification of subcontractors and ensure their safety practices align with project standards. Ensure safety recognition and compliance with safety protocols.
Perform regular audits and safety reviews of the project, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring compliance with safety policies.
Assist in investigating any safety incidents, injuries, or complaints, providing thorough analyses and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Stay up to date on regulatory requirements and company policies, providing guidance and technical advice on safety-related matters.
Recommend improvements to safety programs, tools, and training materials, enhancing the overall safety performance of the project.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in construction HSE roles, with hands-on experience in risk management, audits, and safety program implementation.
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Engineering) is preferred.
Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certifications are highly desirable.
Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus, particularly for communicating with diverse teams and subcontractors.
The role involves physical demands such as standing, walking, kneeling, and the ability to work in environments that may include outdoor work, exposure to machinery and high-pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights, fumes, airborne particles, and various chemicals.
