Our client, an established and well reputed Canadian Industrial Manufacturer is seeking a methodical Quality Control Technician for their Richmond Hill facility. This role is responsible for performing routine laboratory tests of products which includes any incoming and outgoing materials and authorizing acceptance and/or the release/rejection of the material being tested. The ideal candidate has good communication, attention to detail, and interest in growing their career with a collaborative company!
 
The Role:
  • Sampling, inspection and measurement of incoming raw materials according to established material specifications
  • Sampling, inspection and measurement of in-process products according to applicable quality control specifications and procedures
  • Formal reporting of inspection and measurement results
  • Initiation of non-conformity reports (NCR)
  • Cleaning, maintenance and calibration of production and measuring equipment
  • Train production operators as required
  • Perform routine calibration of the systems and maintain in-process testing records and communicate with production on results and any issues Chemical Testing
  • Run daily operations on spectrometer; alignment; standardization and analysis as per procedure
  • Verify accuracy through monitoring results, and compare with certified standards
  • Maintain control systems via chemical analysis of ingot and verification of addition chemistry
  • Maintain necessary accuracy and control on chemistry for customer tests as per applicable specifications
  • Overall ensure compliance of all material, in-process, and leaving, to applicable Specifications
  • Carry out charge calculations as required by production to maintain chemical and mechanical targets as per procedure
  • Generate Certificates of Analysis for outgoing product as required on the Customer Order
  • Process Mechanical Tests; Tensile, Hardness and Side Bend Tests per procedure
  • Input results into Database and generate customer reports.
  • Product defect evaluation, Conductivity Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, and other functions as necessary to support all lab operations.
  • Responsible for the cleaning of equipment and work station on a daily basis
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner, including to immediately report any equipment malfunction
 
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Completion of secondary school minimum, and related experience in laboratory procedures is required
  • University graduate of Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Good working knowledge of metallurgy and methods of chemical analysis
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical testing
  • Technical knowledge of sand testing
  • Knowledge of statistical process control
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good oral and written English, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow health and safety rules and procedures
  • Must be able to fill out paperwork and forms neatly and accurately
  • Ability to follow appropriate departmental work instructions
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize jobs, and be highly organized
  • Strong ability of using a variety of measurement tools and systems
