Our client, one of the largest food ingredient distributors for industrial bakeries and food manufacturers in Ontario is undergoing rapid growth and transformation.

Role Overview

The Accounts Receivable Specialist will manage and oversee the accounts receivable process, ensuring the timely and accurate collection of payments. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication with customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Cash Receipts and Credit Memos: Post cash receipts, manage credit memos, and maintain customer master data.
  • Collections: Proactively contact customers via phone and email to drive collections and reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
  • AR Automation Tool: Act as the subject matter expert for the recently implemented AR Automation tool.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial and management reports for cross-functional teams.
  • Account Reconciliation: Perform customer account reconciliations and maintain accounts receivable files and records.
  • Period End Close: Support the period-end close process, including AR subledger closures and intercompany transactions.
  • Invoice Discrepancies: Resolve invoice issues by liaising with customers and internal associates.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of accounts receivable transactions and customer communications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of AR experience with a focus on customer support and relationship management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CPA in progress preferred 
  • Food distribution industry experience preferred 
  • Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in Excel and financial systems, including Microsoft Office 
    • Sage (preferred) 
    • Proven ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrated capability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team.
