About the role:
Reporting directly into the COO and CEO, this role will oversee all aspects of the organization’s corporate tax strategy. This includes tax planning, reporting, compliance, project management, relationship management and post-merger integration. Specific responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Prepare and review personal tax returns for owner, Family Office and group of companies
- Prepare and monitor all tax installments and HST returns
- Provide tax planning for the Group of Companies and Family Office.
- Provide cash flow analysis and forecast for the group of companies
- Work with US office to save and defer tax for projects, properties, and investments
- Approve invoices for accounting, tax, and legal services
- Provide tax advice to acquisition and development team for investments
- Manage, lead, mentor and inspire a team of 3 tax accountants
- Research and coordinate with tax and legal experts on complicated transactions.
- Respond to investor and owner tax questions and other ad hoc tax related activities.
- Masters of Tax, CPA, CA and In-Depth Tax Courses are preferred
- Minimum 10 years of Canadian Tax experience is required
- Minimum of 5 years within commercial real estate or development industry
- Excellent understanding of Canadian Tax structures and laws
- Strong knowledge of US Tax Law implications
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
