Are you ready to make an impact in the field of electrical engineering? We've partnered with an Alberta-based company seeking a talented Protection and Control Engineer to join their team in Edmonton. As a key member of the team, you'll be responsible for designing and supporting high voltage substation projects, from initial concept to energization. You'll also provide crucial operational and maintenance support for existing facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop crucial aspects of utility substation projects, including Single Line Protection and Metering diagrams, protection logics, and electrical design packages.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project design coordination.
  • Prepare accurate estimates, bills of materials, and cable schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards, including Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards.
  • Play a vital role during project construction and commissioning, providing engineering support.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety and contribute to a Zero Injury Culture.
  • Embrace innovation by identifying and implementing efficient design and operational solutions.
  • Oversee the work of engineering contractors to ensure project requirements are met.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Eligible for registration with APEGA.
  • Bring a minimum of 1 year of relevant Protection & Control engineering experience, ideally within an electrical utility environment.
  • Possess a strong understanding of electrical power systems design, protection, and control principles.
  • Proficient in drafting software, such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
  • Showcase exceptional technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate effectively through excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal abilities.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills, managing multiple priorities and meeting commitments.
  • Pay meticulous attention to detail.
  • Hold a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license.
