Commercial Estimator (Sales)
$80,000- $120,000 annual salary + bonus
Location: San Antonio. TX
Our client, a prominent full-service roofing and exterior services provider, is in search of a Commercial Estimator (Sales) with a background in commercial roofing to expand their dynamic team. This role combines elements of estimation and sales representation. We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to take charge of crafting cost estimates and construction schedules, encompassing both high-level approximations and detailed working estimates. The primary focus is on aiding clients in their selections and presenting outcomes in a format that suits both clients and the design team. We are especially interested in candidates with exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, along with a knack for innovative problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, and team members to gain a comprehensive understanding of project goals.
  • Strengthen client relationships, reinforce our value proposition, and support business development initiatives.
  • Manage and expand the client portfolio through engagement with new and existing customers.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and proactively handle invitations to bid and requests for proposals (RFP).
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of Notice to Proceed letters (NTP) and contract scopes and pricing.
  • Analyze project specifications and drawings, compiling project notes, RFI's, and scope details.
  • Perform measurements and verify dimensions, conducting test cuts when necessary.
  • Utilize Edge Estimating Software for take-offs and estimates.
  • Manage estimating functions, including bids, pricing, and change orders.
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities by reviewing and analyzing processes, staff, and materials.
  • Create comprehensive proposals and cost estimates based on data analysis and research, distributing reports to stakeholders.
  • Prepare production scenario forecasts and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to facilitate project handoffs and efficiently resolve client disputes and overdue accounts.
  • Identify opportunities within estimates to enhance cost performance and coordinate with project management and production teams.
  • Participate in financial analysis upon job completion, tracking performance metrics and bid results.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • A degree in Business or Construction Management considered an asset
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in commercial roofing sales experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience and knowledge in project management and estimating within the commercial roofing or HVAC field.
  • Knowledge of commercial roofing, including single-ply, asphalt, cold applied, hot applied, and metal projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to create forecasts based on financial data.
  • Proficiency in analyzing specifications and drawings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proven ability to expand market share and strong networking skills.
  • Willingness to travel locally as required.
Preferred Skill and Abilities
  • A degree in Business or Construction Management considered an asset
  • Previous Experience and Knowledge of Edge Estimating Software
