Our client, a leading multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm with a strong reputation across Canada, is looking to add an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to their Toronto office. THE ROLE
As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the design and coordination of mechanical systems for a range of building projects. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, architects, and project teams to deliver high-quality HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems that meet performance, budget, and schedule expectations.
You’ll be involved in all phases of design and documentation and will also have the opportunity to grow your leadership skills by mentoring junior staff and contributing to multidisciplinary coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial, residential, and institutional buildings.
- Prepare mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Coordinate with other consultants and disciplines to ensure integrated and efficient design solutions.
- Support project delivery from concept through to construction.
- Participate in internal design reviews and contribute to quality control.
- Assist with site reviews, reports, and resolving construction-related queries.
- Support proposal preparation and business development efforts, as needed.
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in the Canadian building industry.
- Experience working on institutional, commercial, or residential projects in Ontario or other provinces.
- Strong design and technical skills with a solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Familiarity with mechanical systems design software and drafting tools (AutoCAD is essential; Revit/BIM is an asset).
- Understanding of OBC, NBC, and other applicable codes and standards.
- Comfortable working on multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills – able to work effectively with project teams, clients, and consultants.
- P.Eng. designation in Ontario (or eligibility to obtain it soon) is preferred.
