THE ROLE
As the Director of Civil, you will serve as the second-in-command to the VP, responsible for overseeing business operations, ensuring team accountability, providing financial oversight, and nurturing client relationships. While commercial experience is welcome, strong residential experience is crucial for this role. Your leadership will play a pivotal role in promoting the firms growth and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the civil engineering department, overseeing a team of engineers, designers, and technical staff
- Oversee financial operations, set strategic goals, manage invoicing processes, and ensure timely resolution of past dues.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction with services delivered and to identify opportunities for future project collaborations.
- Monitor and optimize team performance, resource allocation, and client satisfaction metrics.
- Establish divisional goals and growth strategies that will allow the civil engineering division to serve nationwide
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in all projects
What's Required
- A solid academic foundation with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (a master’s degree is a plus).
- A valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of TX – a must-have for this leadership role.
- 12+ years of civil engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years managing teams or projects at a senior level.
- Expertise in residential and multifamily land development is essential.
- Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities to drive success and inspire the team.
- Familiarity with Municipal Utility District (MUD) development is beneficial, as it will provide valuable insight into managing water and utility services for residential projects.
- Proven track record in residential land development, from concept to completion.
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project management platforms.
- Adept at leading diverse teams and juggling multiple projects without compromising quality.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills to build lasting partnerships with clients and stakeholders.
